Hey hey hey folks, today I am sharing another flavorful recipe with you today – Green Plantain Akara.  I think it an African based dish.  I know some people will ask if this can be baked.  With my Lentil Peas Patties Recipe, I baked them once and they were very dry.  These types of recipes taste better when they are fried in my opinion.

Ingredients
3 green plantains
1 stick of chive
1/2 onion
3 seasoning peppers
1/4 red sweet pepper
salt

Method
Using a sharp kitchen knife, cut off the ends of the green plantains and peel them using the technique that you are comfortable with.
Wash the peeled green plantains, cut up into small pieces, place in a food processor and process to a nice smooth consistency.  Transfer to a mixing bowl.  Put the other ingredients into the food processor and blend to a finely chopped consistency.  Add to the green plantain that was processed to a smooth consistency.   Mix together well.  Add salt and pepper if you like your food spicy.
Put a pot on the stove.  Allow it to hot.  Add a generous amount of oil and allow it to hot.  Put a small bit of the mixture into the hot oil and if it sizzles you will know that the oil is hot  enough.  Set the heat to medium.  Take out a ice cream scoop full of the mixture and shape into a circular shape and place into the hot oil carefully.  Repeat until the pot has no more space.
Allow each green plantain akara to get golden brown on the bottom and turn over each one and allow the other side to get golden brown.  Remove from the pot and place on a plate lined with paper towel.
Note:  You can use a blender to get the green plantain to the smooth creamy consistency but you will have to add water to the blender to get it going.  For better results avoid adding any water.  This is the reason I used a food processor

  1. Hey, honestly your site is coming along :-), but I had a question – it’s a bit slow. Have you thought about using a different host like propel? It’d help your visitors stick around longer = more profit long term anyway. There’s a decent review on it by this guy who uses gtmetrix to test different hosting providers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6s0ciJI4W4 and the whole video has a bunch of gold in it, worth checking out.

  2. Picture this – 3 am in the morning, I had a line of fiends stretched around the corner of my block. It was in the freezing middle of January but they had camped out all night, jumping-ready to buy like there was a sale on Jordans. If you were 16 years old, in my shoes, you’d do anything to survive, right? I got good news though; I MADE IT OUT OF THE HOOD, with nothing but a laptop and an internet connection. I’m not special or lucky in any way. If I, as a convicted felon that used to scream “Free Harlem” around my block until my throat was sore, could find a way to generate a stable, consistent, reliable income online, ANYONE can! If you’re interested in legitimate, stress-free side hustles that can bring in $3,500/week, I set up a site you can use: https://incomecommunity.com
