Triples, Doubles Trinidad And Tobago Most Popular Street Food

Doubles is the most popular street food in Trinidad and Tobago.  What is doubles:  It’s a sandwich with two pieces of fried bread – known as bara – and some cooked channa aka chick peas.  You can also get triples which is three pieces of the fried bread.  The vendors serve the doubles with different homemade condiments like cucumber chutney, sweet sauce, and pepper sauce.

You can find a doubles vendor almost any where in Trinidad and Tobago.  They are basically a two person vendors stall, one person will put the doubles together and the other will put them in a bag (if required by the customer) and collect the cash.

The traditional way to eat a Trinidad Doubles is on location next to the doubles vendor.  Check out the video below in which I got some doubles from a vendor in Londonville, Trinidad and ate it on location.

Some people do not like to eat their doubles in public so they may choose to either their doubles in their vehicles or when they return to their homes.  In the next video I demonstrated how I eat my doubles at home.  At the time of recording I had not eaten this popular Trinidad street food for quite some time and was very excited to sit at my dining table at home and enjoy my doubles.  Many people who watched my video almost crucified me for not demonstrating how to eat this popular Trinidad street food the traditional way.  I have since corrected that.  LOL!
