Doubles is the most popular street food in Trinidad and Tobago. What is doubles: It's a sandwich with two pieces of fried bread - known as bara - and some cooked channa aka chick peas. You can also get triples which is three pieces of the fried bread. The vendors serve the doubles with different homemade condiments like cucumber chutney, sweet sauce, and pepper sauce.
You can find a doubles vendor almost any where in Trinidad and Tobago. They are basically a two person vendors stall, one person will put the doubles together and the other will put them in a bag (if required by the customer) and collect the cash. The traditional way to eat a doubles is on location next to the doubles vendor. Check out this video where I got some doubles for a vendor in Londonville, Trinidad and ate it on location.
