How To Make Trinidad Sweet Bread

Ingredients
4 cups all purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup raisins
2 teaspoons almond essence
1 cup melted butter
1 cup mixed peel
2 eggs
2 cups grated coconut
3/4 milk

Method
Put all the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix together well.

In another mixing bowl or large measuring cup, add the wet ingredients like the eggs, almond essence, melted butter and milk.  
Whisk all these ingredients well.

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix together well.

Grease bread pans and transfer the mixture to the greased bread pans.

Set oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit /177 degrees Celsius

Put bread pans into the oven.  Baking time 35-45 minutes.

  2. Ive searched the internet for sweet bread recipes And all I see is people using mixers and sifting flour making it so complicated, it’s been many years and I couldn’t remember. I just remembered my grandmother baking all in one bowl using her hands. And your video is just like she used to make it !!! I can’t wait to try it this Christmas. Thank you so much. PS. I made your homemade bread as well this summer and it was amazing. Just like my grandmas

    1. Hello thank you so much for your wonderful comment. I too have a memory of my mother making her breads and cakes by hand - no mixer what so ever. Eventhough the mixers are very convenient I don't own one as I don't make cakes etc very often. So the machine would be under utilized if I did own one.
