In the Caribbean, we have a dish called Fry Bake. What is Fry Bake? Fry Bake is basically a piece of bread dough that we deep fry. It is made in many of the different Caribbean islands with slight variation and by different names.
Ingredients: 2 cups all purpose flour 2 tablespoons butter or coconut oil 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1/2 cup Luke warm water oil for frying
Method
Put all the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Mix together well

Add the butter and combine with the dry ingredients.
Gradually pour in the lukewarm water and using your hands, form into a dough. Knead the dough until nice and soft.

Cover the mixing bowl with the dough with a damp paper towel or cloth and allow to rest for about 15-25 minutes.
Separate the dough into smaller pieces and form into balls. You should get about 6 balls.

Put a deep pot on the stove to hot. Pour in about a cup of oil to deep fry the dough. Allow the oil to get very hot.
Note: be sure that you adjust your stove to medium heat. If the heat is too high the bakes will get brown very quickly but not fully cooked inside.
